Bird in India
Bird in India
by Anonymous
Hello,
My husband and I are Canadian but moving to India. Once settled there, we would like to get a pet bird. After doing some initial research, we are thinking a lovebird, parakeet, or cockatiel would be best (it will be our first bird, we would like something that sings and is cuddly).
My concern is when we move back to Canada. Are birds ok to fly or is it too stressful for them?
If you have any thoughts or knowledge on this, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!
Answer:
Flying with birds is perfectly fine. It’s like bringing your cat or dog aboard. However, you will need to do your research to see what airlines allow birds (not all of them do) and what requirements they may have. I HIGHLY suggest finding an airline that will let you bring your bird into the cabin with you. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about birds being transported with checked baggage.
My husband and I have successfully traveled with two parrots (in the cabin), so it is definitely possible and not as difficult as it seems.
If you search Google for traveling with parrots, you can find a variety of articles with useful tips.
God bless,
Michelle Jay
