Help identifying a bird at our farm

by Anonymous

We have a bird that came to our farm. We are trying to catch it. The bird keeps coming close but no success. It’s mostly gray with a large red breast and a vibrant crop which he moves up and down. I don’t know if it’s a parrot or parakeet. It’s as big as a parrot.

Hello,

Wow! Sounds interesting! Do you think you’d be able to grab a quick photo the next time you see it?

Have you looked through our Types of Pet Birds page? You can find it here:

I can’t think of any parrots off the top of my head that really match your description, but a photo might help. 🙂

God bless,

Michelle Jay

by: Bea C. It sounds like a Galah -aka Rose Breasted Cockatoo. Put out some seeds inside a cage (they are from Australia so this is a hand-fed bird and knows cages) at sunset.
