So I have a beautiful Mexican Redheaded Amazon parrot and I was just wondering if I could ask a few questions. My first question is how long do they live? My second question is what kind of foods do they like? My third question is what kind of words can they learn?
Answer:
Hi Christine,
Thank you for contacting us!
My first question is how long do they live?
They can live to be about 80 years old. But on average, they live to be about 50-60 in captivity if well taken care of.
My second question is what kind of foods do they like?
You can find our suggested diet for large parrots on our Best Large Parrot Food page.
My third question is what kind of words can they learn?
Well, they can learn all sorts of words! Amazons are great talkers and while the yellow-head-types are the best when it comes to talking, the Mexican Redhead is still pretty good.
We have a 2 year old Mexican Redhead named Mork (from Mork & Mindy) and he can already say, “Mork”, “Whatcha doin’?”, “Wanna lay down?”, “You hungry?”, “Nano Nano”, “Mork calling Orsen, come in Orsen”, and more! He is a true clown and a lot of fun.
Enjoy your Mexican Redheaded Amazon!
God bless,
Michelle Jay
